| Dielectric Kraft |
Material Properties |
|||||||||||||||
![]() |
Made from high quality electrical grade neutral Kraft specifically manufactured for transformer insulation. Neutral in color and produced to meet precise specifications, Kraft is the lowest cost of all electrical insulations available for spiral wound tubing. Moisture absorption is minimal, but inherent. Recommended when insulation is required meeting specified parameters listed. Transformers, stator insulators and coil forms are suggested uses for this material. |

| Phenolic Impregnated Kraft | ||||||||||||||||
![]() |
Commonly referred to as "Phenolic", this high quality electrical grade neutral Kraft is impregnated with class "b" stage phenolic resin. After winding, the tube is heated to 300° F to complete the cure cycle. The result is an extremely strong and high dielectric tube with reduced moisture absorption. Excellent for numerous fabrication purposes. Recommended when Kraft alone does not provide the strength required in identical wall thicknesses. Can be combined with plain Kraft for reduced cost. |

| Vulcanized Fibre | ||||||||||||||||
![]() |
Commonly known as "Fish Paper", This material is produced from cotton rag base paper. Blue/grey in appearance, tubing manufactured with vulcanized Fibre is extremely strong and rigid. Recommended for heavy gauge wire or transformer cores requiring high abrasive resistance. Material cost is approximately 5 times that of Kraft. Nominal moisture absorption. |

| Nomex® | ||||||||||||||||
![]() |
Nomex® is a high temperature and high dielectric strength polyamide paper known for its exceptional physical and electrical properties. It can retain at least 50% od critical original properties after 10 years of continuous heating at 200° C (428° F). Inherently flame retardant, most grades will meet UL standard 94 V-O. Most commonly used in motors and high voltage transformers, hydrogen cooled generators and liquid gas pumps. |

||||||||||||||
| Ce-Quin® I, II, V | ||||||||||||||||
![]() |
An unfired aluminum silicate ceramic-like paper composed of particulates and fibrous materials, bonded with acrylonitrite latex. Ce-Quin® I & II are white. Ce-Quin® V is a brown, stiff version which has been thermally treated. Ce-Quin® V meet UL standard 94 V-O and is a lower cost material comparable to Nomex® in temperature rating. Can be combined with other materials. Common uses are dry type transformers, ground insulation, phase insulation, core wrap, and traction motors. |

| Fiberglass | ||||||||||||||||
![]() |
Fiberglass has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any available material. Dimensionally stable, heat and flame resistant, fiberglass won't absorb liquids in its finished form. Spiral wound tubing and coil forms can be cut to any length up to 34" maximum. Wall thicknesses are available from .012" to 1". Custom enclosures and bobbins are also available. |

| Combined Materials | ||||||||||||||||
![]() |
Materials can be combined to reduce cost or enhance the performance of one product or another. Examples of combined materials are: | |||||||||||||||
| Kraft/Fish Liner: |
Kraft tubing lined with a layer of fish. Lower cost than all fish, but the strength of fish for abrasion resistance in the lamination process. |
|||||||||||||||
| Kraft/Nomex®: |
Kraft with Nomex® over wrap, or Nomex® buried between layers of Kraft. |
|||||||||||||||
| Kraft/Phenolic: |
For greater tube strength than plain Kraft |
|||||||||||||||
| Kraft/Ce-Quin®: |
Kraft with Ce-Quin® over wrap, or Ce-Quin® buried between layers of Kraft |
|||||||||||||||
| Kraft/Mylar: |
Kraft with Mylar over wrap, or Mylar buried between layers of Kraft. High dielectric properties. |
|||||||||||||||
| Other combinations of material are available. Call the factory for more information. | ||||||||||||||||
